Shatili is a fortress-village in the historical province of Khevsureti on the Arghuni River in the north of Georgia. This is an example of brilliant and unique Khevsuretian architecture and engineering. The houses, built in the 12th and 13th centuries, are made of slate stones found in the surrounding area stacked on top of each other. The only way to drive to Shatili is Datvijvari pass (2677m) with amazing views of Chaukhi mountains.
We will drive ahead to Shatili early in the morning and stop our vehicles on top of Datvisjvari pass. Once we enjoy the views and get ready for the ride we will start descending towards Shatili fortress for around 25 kilometers. After walking through the towers of Shatili fortress and having a great lunch, we will have an opportunity to ride couple more kilometers to visit a historical place Necropolis of Anatori with it’s exciting story. For the riders who love to pedal a lot we can ride 13 more kilometers to reach the last fortress Mutso and it’s amazing towers.
On our way back we will stop vehicles again at Datvisjvari pass and enjoy the beautiful descend on jeep road until we arrive at Korsha. We will have a very tasty dinner on the way to Tbilisi.
