Kazbegi, a small town in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia, is part of the historic Khevi province. Towering above it is Mount Mkinvartsveri (Kazbegi Mountain), 5,047 meters high. Legend says the Titan Prometheus was chained here for teaching mankind to make fire. At the foot of the mountain, the Gergeti Trinity Church overlooks the town, offering incredible panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and old villages.
