Shatili is a historic highland village in Georgia, near the border with Chechnya. Located on the northern slope of the Greater Caucasus mountains in Upper Khevsureti (part of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), it is accessible only via the Datvisjvari Pass, which sits at 2,689 meters above sea level. The pass offers stunning panoramic views of the Chaukhi mountains and the surrounding Khevsureti landscapes.
In the morning, we’ll drive toward Shatili in shuttle cars. The drivers will drop us off at the top of Datvisjvari Pass, where we’ll begin our descent along a scenic, flowy mountain road to Shatili. Upon arrival, we’ll have time to explore the ancient tower village. Afterward, the drivers will take us to the nearby Necropolis of Anatori, a historic and iconic site for the Khevsureti people.
On our way back, we’ll start again from the top of Datvisjvari Pass and ride down the other side, finishing at the village of Roshka. From there, we’ll drive back to Tbilisi, which takes about two hours.
